Weekend Learning's

Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Winter is coming, lets stay wild my little feathers.

This weekend wasn't ideal. A thorn in the paw, a splinter in you hand. I am glad it is over. Although it was trying, much was achieved, this is what I learned;
  • "Thoughts could leave deeper scarring that almost anything else." - J.K Rowling. I am a 'number 5'. This means I am very much 'in my head'. It is probably the cause of a lot of my migraines too (so they say). My mind is always busy… buzzing… bustling… this quote... I guess my mind is my own worst enemy.
  • "Twinkle lights are oddly soothing maybe we should keep the Christmas tree up all year" - Private Practice. I agree. There is something mesmerizing about them that I love. Maybe it's because it's my favourite time of year or the fact that I love shiny twinkly things but I too want fairy lights 12 months a year too sooth my heavy eyes.
  • Do small things with great love. I think I've lived by this my whole life, I just never put it into words. Everything I do with love.
  • Vida's Chai Latte's are the best. They're like a milky cinnamon bun in a cup… without the calories. Delish!
  • "And that’s the thing about people who mean everything they say. They thing everyone else does too." - K. Hosseini
  • I like drinking coffee in the park… the caffeine kick is great for if you need to run away from scary beast chemical dogs! AAHH!
  • I love the word 'savant'.
  • Buddah Ta's candyfloss mojito is still such fun and totally yummy! No matter how old I get I love candy. Wink.
  • "All I need" by Radiohead, I forgot how much I love this song. It is from the album "In Rainbows" - so fitting because it is so colourful here in my life now with you.
  • I have an old friend in a scary place at the moment. Physically this time not mentally. Visiting him was trying… it was great to have my two pillars of strength there with me, with out them I think I would have stopped breathing, or worse. Thank you.
  • "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:20

I hope you have a week full of green tea and sweet grapes my little gerbils!

Xoxo

PS. "And at once I knew, I was not magnificent." - Bon Iver.

Who doesn't love a skeleton... you? Get off my blog ^_^ joke!

Sliding to the beat of the city we live it, urban love.
A weekend as wonderful as this one calls for celebration, or just a Monday weekend learning’s, that’s celebration enough right? This is what I learned;
  • The tappas at Buddah Ta are best shared over silly conversation, “Haha nom, haha, whats that dip... Wow garlic, who did what to WHO? Calamari... Haha!”
  • I follow my heart, weather its down the right road or the wrong road, I always follow my heart.
  • Facebook is blue because Mark Zuckerberg is red-green colour-blind.
  • You know you have unique taste in music when you go from one club in heels and a cocktail dress only to change into your sneakers and T shirt for the next destination.
  • The best things in life, are not things.
  • I’m obsessing over Anthony Neil Dart, Johannesburg based Graphic Designer. I stumbled across his stuff and just. can’t. stop...
  • Winning stuff is super exciting, especially when its to Brickfields and it had something to do with Dubstep and having a seizer, weird and bizarre lovin!
  • I don't like blue flavour. Blue slushy, sies.
  • Trust the struggle, its a lesson someone bigger is trying to teach you. Mine is finally over. Happy much?
  • Jozi Town is just wonderful, I don’t really enjoy going out anywhere else anymore. Town, swallow me up please! So glad I’ve found a little town fairy to come with me!
  • Knowing what you want is the best, clearest feeling in the world.
  • The rumbling sound your stomach makes when you are hungry is called "borborygmus." LOVE! Sshhh
  • Sometimes people seem mean because they don’t realise that your mean-o-meter is a lot more sensitive than theirs... Mine is like old break pads... worn.
Have a gorgeous week feathers, I think its going to be a goodie... Loving life!

Xoxo

PS. By the way... I’m wearing the smile you gave me.

Dance like no one is watching...
This weekend I celebrated my birthday and went to a dear friends funeral. Talk about bitter sweet! This is what I learned.
  • Female designers are a rare commodity. I’m proud to be one.
  • I have amazing people in my life and I am blessed with an abundance of them.
  • Tea in a flask might have saved my life when it was –1 on Saturday morning.
  • I struggle at funerals. Nyiko, I miss you.
  • People are shocked when they see a girl getting her head shaved, come on people its 2011.
  • This birthday was the best birthday ever, I want to do it all again.
  • Buddah Ta’s platters are delicious, but watch out for the garlic, woa.
  • Some people just don’t know what respect and manners are, good bye.
  • Sometimes talking till the sun comes up is the best part of the night.
  • It is amazing what scent does, yum.
  • I like making art with Smarties, colour and chocolate, a designers dream come true.
  • I am happier in hot weather, I cant wait for this cold to go.
  • The best times are always the unplanned moment which creep up on you and wash your memories in warm sunshine.
Xoxo

PS. “You’ve changed...” reply: “Good, I didn’t like the old me anyway.”

Not that I am unhappy, just an interesting way to look at it.

Krr krrrr! Black and White... I love you.
This weekend was the first long weekend I have spent at home in Jozi in almost 2 years. I have to be honest... I got a lot done. Fun.
And these are the weekend learning’s:

  • Irish Car Bombs are the most revolting shooter I have ever had, face pulling stuff!
  • Getting ready for a night out with a girlfriend reminds me of my teenage years. Kinda cool.
  • Buddah Ta is still a gorgeous venue and I have heard the food is just as amazing at the décor, *note to Coco, must try this out!
  • Everyone should have a night out of just crazy dancing. If you cannot dance that’s fine too, just don’t jump on the stage... lady in purple I am talking to you!
  • Running in the rain is fine by me, lets go play in it!
  • There is only one thing to do when the weather is crappy... go out and buy ingredients and make Bloody Mary’s, you know it little tomato!
  • I still love Espresso’s (the place *4th street in Parkhurst and the drink.)
  • Sometimes the rain can break, or in our case, make a party.
  • I love sunglasses with unique details, fellow blogger Megan has stunning dragonfly sunnies from Really Really. *Fridays Fashion will be on Sunnies, thanks Meg!
  • The Kings Speech is a brilliant film, I am still and always will be, a huge fan of Helena Bonham Carter, even when she plays a safer role like the queen.
  • Willoughby & Co’s prawn rice paper wrap is... to die for to put it mildly.
  • I love ‘The Go! Team’s’ Apollo Throwdown (Star Slinger Remix) play it for me baby!
  • I desperately want to go for an advanced driving course. Got to channel this need for speed into something.
  • Do the tiger dance for me!
  • I miss you Lomo... tbc

Xoxo

PS. “Coco you’re a little different...” “Well you’re just like everyone else...” Coco walks away in boredom.

I love Black & white.
Finally getting out the first Weekend Learning's of 2011! Here it is....
  • I am absolutely loving The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen and all the angry chic that comes with it. Ohh the ballads...
  • Just because I am not trying anymore, it does not mean I am giving up.
  • Higher Ground has great cocktails and a bit of a bee problem.. unless they’re just attracted to sweet girls ;)
  • Getting a Brazilian Blow wave is not nearly as dramatic as people say it is. and it smells like vanilla cupcakes. Mmm!
  • BuddahTa has the most delicious platters and fab décor, Coco loves!
  • Red Chamber in Hyde Park does this amazing seaweed and cashew dish, highly recommended.
  • I seem to be in the wars, tripping, stubbing and hurting myself, coco is a clumsy cluts.
  • Just because life throws you a curve ball it doesn't mean you should play bat.
  • No I don't understand myself either!
  • Your hair has to be 22cm’s to donate it to CANSA.... I think mine is about 40cm....
  • I don’t like blogging in a bad mood, so sorry for the lack of.
xoxo

PS. Sorry no Coco holiday learning’s it would be in vein. Happy 2011!
