"Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers, or shove them in your nose!"
A picture from my #100HappyDays, hope you're happy too!

A three day weekend for me. Yes I am a lucky one. Why you ask? When you work at a fantastic company like Interbrand Sampson de Villiers on the day that you started you get the day off as a sort off anniversary to say; "Thank you for joining our team." What a great blessing this job is. Thank you everyone at Interbrand. I am grateful. And even more so as I was also promoted to Senior Designer and can finally talk about it! Yay me! This is what else I have learned;

  • “Allow yourself to be a beginner. No one starts off being excellent.” - TheDailyPositive.com. I am loving this site!
  • I think I might be mildly obsessed with tea. With a few 8 flavours at minimum in my kitchen I have one for every opportunity. Lovely tea, solves everything.
  • After visiting the bookstore twice in one week this quote came to life for me; “Books are no more threatened by Kindle, than stairs by elevators.” Stephen Fry.
  • Doing a quick 5.5km's in the am with 5kg weights, piece of cake. Just know you're going to walk like a moose stepping on sticky marshmallows… ouch.
  • Red Chamber in Hyde Park is still one of my favourite restaurants in Jozi. The food, the service, the seaweed. It's to die for! I always leave full, happy, and with takeaway.
  • If someone wants you in their lives they'll put you there. You shouldn't have to fight for a spot.
  • I cannot stop listening to the new Kings of Leon. Ill admit I was a little dismissive but as usual they won me over with their smooth redneck hollers and vibrant feel good melodies. Again I am hooked. The new album is called Mechanical Bull just FYI.
  • “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”

Have a pretty week my heart shaped cupcakes and remember, if you love someone tell them… because hearts are often broken by words left unspoken.

Xoxo

Mmm how about them apples...

Positivo!

Weekends when the summer is vicious but the chilling is high are becoming my favourite. Weekends are also becoming the downtime to the tightly wound up weeks. Slow paced lazy weekends, and speed racing weeks… this is going to be my 2014 me thinks. And do you know what that means? More Learnings! This is what I learned;
  • I am totally and utterly obsessed with the words above! "Seja positivo. A vida retribui." This translates to; "Stay positive. Life reciprocates." True ne? I love being happy smiley Coco.
  • On that note, I am really enjoying my 100 Happy Days. I hope you have at least one thing to be happy about every single day! See on the right of my blog you can see my Instagram feed.
  • "Stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be." - Elizabeth Gilbert. Amen Lizzie!
  • I have to admit I am consumed with Master Chef All Stars. On Friday they had a "Burn The Mystery Box / Barbecue" Challenge. I was so excited. I was in a state of utter fascination! I don't think I closed my shocked trap for the whole of the first section until the interval. So silly, so fun! Watch it!
  • I finally made it to La Vie en Rose. A picturesque little spot in Illovo where there is iced tea, meals are inspired by roses and the serviettes are tied with tiny pink ribbons. A must!
  • Trying to understand the behavior of some people is like trying to smell the colour nine.
  • Have you ever had a white mielie? When I used to visit my family in Zimbabwe we celebrated these delicious juicy veggies. They're pretty rare in South Africa but if you find some, try them, trust me. I got my hands on some this weekend, yum!
  • Orphic. (adj.) Mysterious and entrancing; beyond ordinary understanding.
  • Stop watering the weeds in your life and start watering the flowers.

Have a cherished week my little starfish, and remember; compliment people. Magnify their strengths, not their weaknesses.

Xoxo

PS. "We were together… I forget the rest." - Walt Whitman. Meep.

Weekend Learning's

Love this! Wildfire Art Print by Molly Freze.

The first Weekend Learning's I've done in a long time. I felt like after just two days back at work I needed another holiday. So I spent this weekend unwinding and clocking-in on some beautiful family time. This is what I learned;
  • I am really enjoying the way this year is going so far!
  • "Lagom" (Sweedish) Not too little. Not too much. Just right.
  • There is a big difference between being alone and feeling lonely. I love being alone, feeling lonely is something I rarely feel and it is more the result of my missing my better half than the need for company.
  • The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else's highlight reel.
  • There are already brown leaves in my driveway. I cannot believe there is evidence of Autumn already. I feel like I have not even started my love affair with Summer.
  • "Dressing well is a form of good manners." - Tom Ford
  • There is something quite special about watching a young pup play in a sprinkler on a hot day. Oh little Basil, you are pure joy.
  • "When words are both true and kind they can change the world." - Buddah
  • I think I am rather silly and a little funny when I go to the supermarket and get overly excited at the new seasonal fruit and vegetables. On Saturday when I saw Woolworths had a box of exotic tomatoes I made a little shrill squeak and I might of hopped in their direction… The grumpy shopper debating the robot peppers gave me a look dirtier than a hobo's sock! I blushed. And hustled into the bread isle smiling with glee and my new tomatoes. Ridiculous right?! Who debates robot peppers?!
  • "When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind".C. S. Lewis
  • Today I signed up for 100 Happy Days. As you saw my last but most important 2014 Resolution is to be happy, stay positive, and to smile. Sign up for the challenge {here} and see if you can post 100 consecutive days of happy posts! See the rest of my 2014 Resolutions {here}.

I hope you have a gleeful week my little Tarte Tatin's

A little faith goes a long way.

2014 Resolutions

Thursday 9 January 2014
Love, may this year be saturated in it.

Happy New Year!

I know we have not spoken in quite some time but I needed some time off. With the general stress I was exuding towards the end of last year, a happy-go-lucky blog post was at the bottom of my To Do lists. Looking back on 2013 there was a lot of growth. There were some challenges and lots of successes at work, I moved out of my home and began living alone in my gorgeous little cottage, I travelled the globe, my garden of friendships and relationships blossomed but most importantly I almost lost two of my family members. What a wakeup call. I know I have changed and grown yet again and I am grateful for the people around me who love and support me.

So it is a new year, a good year, a bright year. I have so much to look forward to. There are 5 little things I want to try remember this year. Why 5 you ask? There are always 5, it is my number! They are pretty small but they root from big things I learnt in 2013. They also might seem frivolous to some as there is no 'stake-in-the-ground' resolution like I want to quit smoking or try eat more greens, this is because I've come to the realization that those resolutions are all complete. I want to better myself as a human this year. I want to deepen my understanding and grow from the inside out.

2014 Resolutions, here they are;

With all you do, try do it with love.
I still strongly believe in Karma.

Less clutter, a full heart, stay in the moment.
You do not know when it or they will be taken from you.

In all you do, and in work.
No one ever won something for being mediocre.

You get out what you put in right?
My body is a temple.

Last but most important, smile.

Have a fantastic 2014 darlings, I hope you feel inspired!

xoxo
