Weekend Learning's

Good bye my Leo and August month, you were amazing!
Spring has definitely spring and I no longer have to wrap myself up and bundle out of the door from venue to venue. Sporting tiny pumps and lady dresses is one way to describe this weekends attire. It was divine to see my beautiful friends looking spritely in their frocks. This is what I learned;
  • Friends are kisses blown to us by angels… then who are all these angels I am surrounded by? Blessed. Traded in those kisses for the real deals.
  • The human brain can only maintain 150 stable social relationships… interesting fact.
  • Thank you Heidi Brauer for my magic wand it is on my desk now prompting me on daily to do magical things! A Fairy God Mother's daily push ^_^
  • Magic wands also actually make amazing swizzle sticks!
  • There is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shore line no matter how many times it is sent away.
  • “Do I haunt you there, there in the space I don’t fill, the hollow in you?” Daily Haiku on love by Tyler Knott Gregson. Yes, I know he is becoming a regular but honestly if you are this good to move me with your words weekly, you will make the Learning's every week.
  • Pinkie Fest is a party full of the colour I'm not fond of but I will wear anything for a good cause and great company. If you're not having fun you're doing it wrong!
  • Those who hate me motivate me, those who I love inspire me, PLEASE I beg you, hate me more dear. Smirk.
  • I am so happy with the path my life is on right now… I don't think I'd change a thing, freedom is blissful. And if I did change it, it would have to be a force of nature to tame Coco.
  • Becoming a vegetarian has been a lifestyle that’s been a long time coming for me and its finally turned that corner when I feel physically ill when I eat meat. Who knows if it will last forever but for now, no bacon for Coco and I'm totally okay with that.
  • Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.
Have an amazing sweet weekend my pink dusted angels, for spring is upon us. And remember, be soft, do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the  pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place, and it is because you are a part of it.

xoxo

PS. In a sea of people, my eyes will always search for you.

mmm hmm...

Coco, she is fierce.
I spent the weekend in Cape Town with one of my best and oldest friends. We ran around with a "go go go" attitude and as I normally do, this time 'we' made that city our bitch. This is what I learned.
  • It's hysterical when jealous Joburg people tell you how crap the weather is going to be and then you have perfect sunny days all weekend long, take that.
  • Staying at the Protea Fire and Ice is epic. Whats better than having a milkshake in their random bar? (which I have done many times before) having a milkshake and then retiring to your pimping room, sweet!
  • Darling, I would slap you but that would be animal abuse.
  • I am loving the blonde braid trend. I know it would look stunning on any hair colour but the blondes seem to be sporting it wherever I look. Definitely going to try this out for Spring.
  • The Pot Luck Club is everything it is made out to be. Unbelievable, delicious, divine and delectable. I would fly down to Cape Town every Friday just to eat there. Orgasmic!
  • "We are the silver lining in any and every dark cloud we could ever find. There is no need to go looking for the light when you bring it with you." Tyler Knott Gregson.
  • I can finally listen to Bon Iver without feeling the tears in my eyes and the pang of pain in my heart. It is amazing how one night listening to harmonious music that you adore with the person you love can totally distort and ruin the melodies. Remind Coco to never share her romantic stuff with people who never wanted to love her back in the first place? Mistake…
  • Building my little cottage has made me look out for the beauty id strange and unique décor, I am white loving pottery with sculls and old fading books. Must be the creamy macabre blonde I am my baby.
  • The Slug and Lettuce in Cape Town is so… feminine compared to the one in Jozi, come on Cape Town teapots in a pub? Odd.
  • I get home sick whenever I go away. It does not matter how amazing the holiday is, and it was amazing! It is simply because I miss the loves I leave at home. The amazing friends I have built these deep relationships with… one weekend without them and I miss them, and they miss me too.
  • Essie's hot pink in Watermelon is just deliciously spicy! Its warm enough to keep you going on the cool evenings in Jozi yet still fresh enough to say hello everyday to warm spring fling which is evidently here! Yay ladies!
Have a gorgeous week petals! Spring is here, put those boots away and show your gorgeous stems!

Xoxo

PS. We are all just walking each other home… I cannot wait for you to take my hand and walk me home.

And so do I.

Happy days... yes I know Coco is dreaming of summer too its obs... mmm skin...
It is cold in Johannesburg. My city is filled to the brim with shivering souls and dark winter wear and furry people. I am not a fan to be honest. I cannot wait to see skin and colour and flesh. Oh how I miss legs and necks and backs! South Africans are beautiful people. A lot of the people I hang out with are adorned with tattoo's and pride themselves with the shapes of their immaculate curves and rippling muscle. How I miss this. Stupid cold weather! Bring me summer beauty already! Sigh. This is what I learned from behind the hidden wall of my mohair scarf;
  • Espresso's serves a cocktail called The Thirst. To be honest it looks like someone poured tomato soup in a martini glass, ran through the forest, sprinkled with dirt (black pepper) and put some tree in it (basil) and then plonked it in from of me. Do not try it… ever.
  • Clinomania. (n.) Excessive desire to stay in bed. When it is cold and I'm scared to go outside because I might bump into someone I don't want to see, I get this in large amounts, somewhat so that it scares me. I understand the desire to be a recluse.
  • Pteronophobia is the fear of being tickled by a feather… tee hee! Funny one this!
  • When I find a blog I obsess over I cannot close the window until I get to the very last image. I do not often find this with websites, its rather rare. But I found it again with Coconut Milk Tea. A site with lovely romantic quotes and creamy brown and white hues. Obsessed and inspired. Check it out, when you have time!
  • "You can't beat blonde girls with brown eyes. Its just one of those things that is soft and pretty and warm and light. You optimize this fantasy." Thank you, I agree.
  • Higher Ground still has one of the best views of joburg I have ever seen! I really am a little sun baby, I feel worlds better after sitting in the sunshine soaking in the vitamin D I so desperately lust after. Mmm sun soaking!
  • I often see the moon smiling at me and wonder if you see it smiling at you too and miss us.
  • I managed to save my Moemas ginger biscuit from my Moemas Feast till Saturday. I cannot remember the last time I had one especially one as good as this. All I can say is can I have a dozen more please!? Mouth watering! Delish!
  • Someone who really likes you sees what a mess you can be, how moody you can get, how hard you are to handle, forgives your mistakes, but still wants you in their life… those are the people who will cherish and in turn be cherished because speedbumps in relationships make the road longer and the love and the journey deeper.
  • The human body is so amazing, when a pregnant woman suffers organ damage (e.g. a heart attack), the fetus will send stem cells to repair the damaged organ. So amazing. My pregnant friend was telling me these amazing facts! Just staggering.
  • YES okay I secretly sniffed you… you smell delicious are you really concerned that I wanted to get a little closer…? I knew you weren't really. Good smelling people make me weak in the knees. So Coco is odd.. like you read my blog because I'm normal… sheesh.
  • Funny when a dumb girl sends you messages on your iPhone on whatsapp and it tells you exactly who they are and they claim they are someone else and then start discussing your ex (who I do not have one bad word to say about so do not even try)... mmm... can the idiots not go through customs before they talk to me? Imprudent people should really remember my old reputation… you do not want to get onto my bad side dear, a word to the wise I now know who you are and you better back off. Yes this is a threat.
  • A little something from my favourite Tyler Knott; “Will you fight for me? Will you stand against the tide and the breaking waves?” Sigh… Where is my poet?
  • Sometimes you need to take time out from a friend to realize just how much you miss and love them. Life is too short to let go of anyone you have to work hard at trying not to miss.
  • The #275 Rule of a Lady; "Sometimes you have to walk away from what you want to find what you deserve."
  • That moment when you find out your newer friend stood up for you and fought for you against an older friend... I might have lost one but I have gained a better quality one. So grateful!
Have a gorgeous weekend daffodils, four day week for me. Too excited to get away this weekend!

Xoxo

PS. "Legend says, when you can't sleep at night its because you're awake in someone else's dreams." please stop dreaming about me so I can sleep…

...tis true.

Me at Mishmash, our nails.
Birthday weekend Learning's Special edition! Yay I say! And what a special birthday it was. You know every year I go out of my way to organize things for my friends. I put down deposits on 'trendy' restaurants where the food isn't that great, party at clubs where people complain about how crap it is and then chase a lot of my 'friends' to get them to come because I believe my birthday will be better if I see their face at my special day. Not this year. At the ripe old age of 27 I left it all to fate. This learnings is a lot about friendships because this weekend I spent all of the weekend feeling grateful for the beautiful people in my life. I am so blessed and so happy. Here are some of my Birthday Learnings!
  • Having my party at a venue where I trust the venue and I know the owner was the best decision I ever made. Thank you to Nico and Mishmash for the best birthday ever! Not only was the food amazing the staff was impeccable and the venue is stunning! I even got a gift of a bottle of Tequila (you might not get this, sorry). I highly recommend MishMash for your dining needs! Call them {here}, thanks guys! X
  • Getting smarty box french mani's is too cute! Love our new style, what a good idea for my Mad Hatter Party… I love being nuts.
  • I don’t know if it is because I am 27 or just the fact that I am so sure about who I am now, but the friends I have now are the friends I will have for life. We are cemented. And those who came to my party were there because they love me and I mean the world to them and they mean the world to me and I am so grateful that the new flowers that I saw on Saturday are more me and more beautiful than anything I had in my past.
  • Its funny when you sit at a table and have a therapist, a lawyer (or two) a designer, a stylist, a computer nerd, a doctor, a banker, a blogger, and a few other randoms sitting around a table and you are watching someone inhale helium and sing Happy Birthday how everyone seems… to just laugh the same. Bless!
  • There's always those certain people that you just know you're a better person because you have them in your life.
  • "Emails are good but parcels and post are better." this rings so true during Birthday time. I love getting cards and letters and hand written gifts, these are so much more personal than email, or Facebook, or whatsapp, or sms or viber etc etc. eish… 2012, whats next!
  • My bestie knows me so well. When I start nitpicking someone she says (and this is the quote of the weekend for obvious reasons) "Stop criticizing him, he's not a logo!" classic, and so perfect.
Thank you all who made my Birthday so special. Have a gorgeous week lovely daffodils.

Xoxo

PS. If people sat at their windows and looked at the moon and the stars every night the way I do, they'd live their lives a lot differently. Star gazer.

Yes I will.

Weekend Learning's

I have been introduced and have accepted, the 'Three Phases of Truth'.
"Truth passes: First it is ridiculed. Second it is fiercely and violently opposed.
Third, it becomes self-evident."
- Arthur Schopenhauer
Images of women found {here}

It was difficult to write this weekends learning's. No, don't get me wrong I have lots to say, I am Coco after all *wink! But when you realize that a lot of the points on your learning's are read by people who read too deeply into every point and they believe that every point is about them (when it's not), you have to begin to filter what you write up and realize that Coco won't be writing about those who sting her anymore because this gorgeous little blog is about happiness not abuse. This is what I learned;
  • I am falling more and more in love with my job. Maybe its the people, the fact that I'm getting so good at what I do it is becoming art, or just the amazing wonders we're producing, I don't want to go home on a Friday because it means two days away from the office… I'm turning into my father the Brand Guru… how wonderful ^_^ !!
  • That awkward moment when you realize that your virus not only attacked your stomach but also your brain. A tiny pang of relief that it is gone but still... When you're a strong woman and you look back and see how ridiculous you've been... Lost. My. Mind. Only a quarter of me was ever wanted in the first place on a good day right? That's exactly what you got.
  • Going with little sister to get a tattoo was so much fun… this is the end of my untouched skin for sure. Whats a designer without ink?
  • Friends are angels who lift our feet when our own wings have trouble remembering how to fly.
  • Im loving "No Church in there Wild" by Kanye West featuring Jay-Z and co. The lyrics are amazing! I especially love the quote "I asked God to please remove my enemies, I was surprised when I lost people that were friends of mine." Rings so true, think I did the same, thank God he helped me out.
  • That is just the nature of the beast my friends.
  • To 'peck' is to kiss lightly, it also means to bother persistently with trivial complaints. Apparently I have "novel worthy lips"... This was a very good compliment… you could have stopped there, *wink.
  • Livin Room is this amazing new spot I got taken to in Jozi city… I have decided I am going to frequent it with my gang and nestle comfortably in-between the succulents, orange overhangs and cool, dirrrty chic culture and watch the sunset over my gorgeous city every Sunday. Lucky me.
  • The quote of the weekend was said by my dearest friend who cannot be named (for obvious reasons) but it must be recited; "I'm not going to invite *Ben tomorrow just incase I fall inlove with *Rob tonight…" hysterries!
  • Some people say the best things; "I think you should also get a new pair of red shoes. And we should teach them to dance." This was actually said to me! I did not find this on the net… a million points to you!
  • "Never love anybody who treats you like you're ordinary." - Oscar Wilde
Next time you read my weekend learning's I'll be 27… Have a beautiful week my starfish!

Xoxo

PS. The couples that are "meant to be" are the ones who go through everything that is meant to tear them apart and come out even stronger than they were before.
