Pretty vintage glasses on a wooden table,
wild flower (babies breath) - happy Coco.

I am in a weird place in my life where I’m feeling pretty uncomfortable on a daily basis. I do not know what it is or where it comes from. Last week I had two near death experiences (no jokes) and no I’m not in the mood to discuss. I also was informed some planet is rubbing my Leo moon up the wrong way and this is why I feel so prickly… great. And just to add to my woes someone very dear to me who I have learned to strongly lean on over the last year has packed up her teepee and pottered on over to London and left me here with an empty hole in my heart! Glum. I have my own opinion on what the universe is trying to get out of me… all I know is that I’m really trying very hard to keep smiling… meep! This is what I learned;

  • Having all my family is one place is my ultimate! Friday night with all five siblings, plus all their partners and my little niece and my mum and dad – there are a lot of us and there is a lot of love, we are so blessed! BEST! What a great start to the weekend.
  • “I like messy people; people who don’t fit in a box or stay between the lines, but who’s integrity is greater than any rule book and who’s loyalty is stronger than blood.” - Jim Wern.
  • My little sister makes better banana bread than I do, and I love that! And my older sister has the best taste in shoes, so I love getting her hand-me-downs! Sisters - I can’t get enough of them!
  • “Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself.” - Rumi. Well one day at a time, at the gym, and mentally improving my outlook on life.
  • Can you remember the last time you sat and drew or painted something? So I draw a lot it’s part of my job. On Friday we painted some canvases for work. I was very quite, as I always am when I draw or paint. I get lost in my wild imagination and it’s wonderful! So many people who were also painting (who work in other departments) commented on how much they enjoyed it and how good it felt. When was the last time you picked up a paint brush? Try it, paint! Just for fun!
  • “Sometimes life is a constant battle against the nostalgia of a time that can never be real again.” - Jason Myers
  • I’ve come to an understanding that I love Rooibos. I follow a “Food benefit” site on Instagram and the other day they posted the “Rare Miracle Plant Rooibos”. I giggled. I know how amazing it is, but I wasn’t amused by the word “miracle” I was interested in the word “rare”. Then I read the comments, poor souls. It is virtually impossible to get hold of if you don’t live here in South Africa… now I love it even more! Read some Rooibos benefits {here}.
  • “There’s a difference between loving the idea of someone and actually loving who they really are.” - White Collar
  • Bad times, or rough patches like this little hiccup I’m having is good for you… well for me and for you or anyone! They teach you to appreciate the good times, learn from the rough and discover during the bumpy roads. Just remember not only could it be worse, but this is a lesson, learn from it, take it in your stride and come out of it a better human… shucks but I’m positive!
  • This weekend I said goodbye (for now) to my special Sarah. I can hardly write this without burting into tears (again). I am so grateful to everything you brought into my life and I cannot wait to see you again.
  • “Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them but you know they are always there.”

Have shining weeks my shooting stars!

xoxo

PS. “Courageous hearts are often covered in scars.” - T.B. LaBerge

Last but most importantly,
Happy Anniversary to the one who reminds me to breathe.
Love.

I feel like I finally am...

Last week was a four day week and with a three day weekend we crammed a little more in than usual. I really wish I could have a three day weekend every weekend. Bliss! This is what I learned;

  • “Forever is composed of nows.”Emily Dickinson. Don't waste today thinking about tomorrow darling!
  • Those wooden ironing boards are so scary to me. If I met one of those in a dark alley, there is more chance I would run screaming from that than any ghoul or ghost. Every time I iron something, which is often, I freak out. It is so heavy and I almost always get my fingers caught in it while opening or closing this heavy ancient thing and I also scrape my knee on the wood trying to fold it while trying to protect my tiny foot which I always drop it on because it weighs as much as my car. Bastard!
  • Do you know it was Human Rights Day on Friday? I hope you took a second or two to remember and think about all the people who fought for those rights you so often take advantage of. If you'd like to remind yourself, give {this} a read. I often wonder if these holidays are in vein considering most of them are spent dunk or hungover…
  • “The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.”Mark Twain.
  • When a restaurant gets my order wrong I stamp my foot and shout; "Is there any accountability anymore!?" In my head of course. In South Africa, there is little to no pride in the hospitality industry (as you'll have read in my last post about The Griffin *cringe). So when I received my breakfast at Fournos on Saturday morning and found my spinach and feta crepes were empty (I know… what? Bizarre). I was disappointed and sent them back feeling pretty drained of the foot stamping. When the manager who took my order came to apologize and gave us two free croissants as a pardon gift I felt a lot better. Thank you Fournos dunkeld for restoring my faith in, well you, the rest are still on trial.
  • “The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight.”MFK Fisher
  • I can't begging to explain how proud I am. My boyfriend has started a blog. You can read his ramblings {here} and Help Him Lose His Keys. You be nice now, or you'll have cross Coco to confront you!
  • "Success is fickle, but creativity is a gift." - Tommy Shaw.
  • I am becoming mildly obsessed with my Sunday's. From waking up in the arms of my love (this has to be done, it is a critical part!) to our Nespresso and baked goods breakfast, to a little pillow talk. In the middle there is a lunch, a run or / and a smoothie. There is always some kind of pamper with me getting myself ready for work, painting my nails, giving myself a facial or prepping my work meals. And often an outing with someone, my pup, the boyfriend, a friend or my sister. The accumulation of all of theses things this year have created the perfect Sunday's. Lucky me!
  • Motherland Coffee is one of the places I go on these Sunday's. The coffee is delicious. The shop design is inspiring, and the wifi is free! I have found, more than once that the quality of people at Motherland are rather amusing. This Sunday we sat amongst pipe smokers who looked less intellectual than they articulated and they were discussing the confrontation of the classification of the average wobble-wobble I was distracted by something fun. Still it is nice to eavesdrop here with a cappuccino mustache.
  • "My love for you spans the lines of my past, present, and future. You are what I love remembering, what I love experiencing, and what I love looking forward to." - Steve Maraboli. 18 Months this week with my beau, coo-cooo-ca-choo.

Make it through the five day week my pumpkin heads and fate will bless you with a tasteful weekend, trust me!

xoxo

PS. I like big butts and I cannot lie! No wait I am lying, I only like your butt… babe.

My love, Thank you for loving me at my best,
most importantly thank you for loving me at my darkest. x

The palette of Autumn I love;
white, cotton, touch, breath, feathers and amber.

The last weekend before I jet off on my London / New York trip. Yay! So glad! It was a lovely weekend though making sure I crammed in all my loved ones who I will miss. This is what I learned.
  • The sun is up the sky is blue it's beautiful and so are you!
  • You know how much Coco loves feathers? Well Feather Head People is my new favourite, blog you could call them. They create headpieces, dream catches, earrings even pieces for your favourite four legged friend! Too cute.
  • Of course I talk to myself, sometimes I need expert advice.
  • That awkward moment when someone is wearing more makeup than clothes… oops.
  • You just can't go wrong with red nails. Sexy.
  • Life is too short to spend another day at war with yourself, or anyone else for that matter.
  • “Sometimes I miss you, the way someone drowning, remembers the air.” - Tim Seibles. I feel this is going to ring quite strongly during my trip... sad face.
  • I am loving the Autumn colours (as above). The oranges, yellows and browns. The leaves falling and the nip in the air, it's fantastic!
  • Woolworth's Porcini mushroom pasta is one of my favourite quick meals at the moment. It is just so delicious. Woody mushrooms, fresh filled pasta and it cooks so quickly, instant delicious on demand! See {here} for instant yum!
  • "She’s a rare breed, matter fact, she’s an endangered species. Her heart’s been broken and just like mine it remains in pieces. But everytime we’re near each other; smile is all we can do, our shattered souls intertwine. I know I’ve felt the same kind of agonizing pain she’s been through and I find comfort in her grasp so I reach out with both arms"
Have a fantastic week my little filet mignons! You won't hear from me for a while as I globe trot in the snow and shop and explore and eat and and and… Don't forget me! Ill be back before you know it.

xoxo

PS. Move me.

It has to be said, Happy Anniversary Baby,
you are in my nature now, forever. x
