Weekend Learning's

Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Winter is coming, lets stay wild my little feathers.

This weekend wasn't ideal. A thorn in the paw, a splinter in you hand. I am glad it is over. Although it was trying, much was achieved, this is what I learned;
  • "Thoughts could leave deeper scarring that almost anything else." - J.K Rowling. I am a 'number 5'. This means I am very much 'in my head'. It is probably the cause of a lot of my migraines too (so they say). My mind is always busy… buzzing… bustling… this quote... I guess my mind is my own worst enemy.
  • "Twinkle lights are oddly soothing maybe we should keep the Christmas tree up all year" - Private Practice. I agree. There is something mesmerizing about them that I love. Maybe it's because it's my favourite time of year or the fact that I love shiny twinkly things but I too want fairy lights 12 months a year too sooth my heavy eyes.
  • Do small things with great love. I think I've lived by this my whole life, I just never put it into words. Everything I do with love.
  • Vida's Chai Latte's are the best. They're like a milky cinnamon bun in a cup… without the calories. Delish!
  • "And that’s the thing about people who mean everything they say. They thing everyone else does too." - K. Hosseini
  • I like drinking coffee in the park… the caffeine kick is great for if you need to run away from scary beast chemical dogs! AAHH!
  • I love the word 'savant'.
  • Buddah Ta's candyfloss mojito is still such fun and totally yummy! No matter how old I get I love candy. Wink.
  • "All I need" by Radiohead, I forgot how much I love this song. It is from the album "In Rainbows" - so fitting because it is so colourful here in my life now with you.
  • I have an old friend in a scary place at the moment. Physically this time not mentally. Visiting him was trying… it was great to have my two pillars of strength there with me, with out them I think I would have stopped breathing, or worse. Thank you.
  • "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:20

I hope you have a week full of green tea and sweet grapes my little gerbils!

Xoxo

PS. "And at once I knew, I was not magnificent." - Bon Iver.

Who doesn't love a skeleton... you? Get off my blog ^_^ joke!

Weekend Learning's

Tuesday, 21 August 2012
Coco, she is fierce.
I spent the weekend in Cape Town with one of my best and oldest friends. We ran around with a "go go go" attitude and as I normally do, this time 'we' made that city our bitch. This is what I learned.
  • It's hysterical when jealous Joburg people tell you how crap the weather is going to be and then you have perfect sunny days all weekend long, take that.
  • Staying at the Protea Fire and Ice is epic. Whats better than having a milkshake in their random bar? (which I have done many times before) having a milkshake and then retiring to your pimping room, sweet!
  • Darling, I would slap you but that would be animal abuse.
  • I am loving the blonde braid trend. I know it would look stunning on any hair colour but the blondes seem to be sporting it wherever I look. Definitely going to try this out for Spring.
  • The Pot Luck Club is everything it is made out to be. Unbelievable, delicious, divine and delectable. I would fly down to Cape Town every Friday just to eat there. Orgasmic!
  • "We are the silver lining in any and every dark cloud we could ever find. There is no need to go looking for the light when you bring it with you." Tyler Knott Gregson.
  • I can finally listen to Bon Iver without feeling the tears in my eyes and the pang of pain in my heart. It is amazing how one night listening to harmonious music that you adore with the person you love can totally distort and ruin the melodies. Remind Coco to never share her romantic stuff with people who never wanted to love her back in the first place? Mistake…
  • Building my little cottage has made me look out for the beauty id strange and unique décor, I am white loving pottery with sculls and old fading books. Must be the creamy macabre blonde I am my baby.
  • The Slug and Lettuce in Cape Town is so… feminine compared to the one in Jozi, come on Cape Town teapots in a pub? Odd.
  • I get home sick whenever I go away. It does not matter how amazing the holiday is, and it was amazing! It is simply because I miss the loves I leave at home. The amazing friends I have built these deep relationships with… one weekend without them and I miss them, and they miss me too.
  • Essie's hot pink in Watermelon is just deliciously spicy! Its warm enough to keep you going on the cool evenings in Jozi yet still fresh enough to say hello everyday to warm spring fling which is evidently here! Yay ladies!
Have a gorgeous week petals! Spring is here, put those boots away and show your gorgeous stems!

Xoxo

PS. We are all just walking each other home… I cannot wait for you to take my hand and walk me home.

And so do I.

Baby it's Cold Outside

Friday, 8 June 2012

Baby its cold outside. Yes it is. And there are plenty of reasons to retire indoors. You want to hear some of Coco's? Fine I'll tell you, but only because I think you're great.
  • There is nothing better than a warm pot o' tea. I'm addicted to Eve's Instant Honeyed Ginger Tea. You can add it to your green tea as well. I drink it just as is, so yummy and great for winter and to ward off little colds.
  • Stripey pumps. Stripy pumps are in full rage at Mr Price and I'm smitten with their cuteness.
  • Leg warmers. Yes this is a weird one. But its too cold to wear those lovely stripey pumps alone so whipping on some leg warmers over your jeans or leggings looks great. Warning; stick to similar hues of colour for example I do super dark blue (almost black) jeggings black leg warmers and dark red and black striped pumps. Also I don't have those nice skinny beanpole legs a lot of girls have so the darker the more slimming- better with the addition of all the knitting of the leg warmers. Fun!
  • Reintroducing myself to Bon Iver. Nothing better than listening to some good music snuggly and warm in the arms of someone gorgeous. They sound like an abandoned house far away only housing two people with the same smile. And guess what? The word Bon Iver is derived from the french phrase bon hiver meaning "good winter" or "have a good winter". If that isn't a good sign then I don't know what is! Grab a warm body and close your eyes...
  • Wolves. Whether it's tea, coffee, wine, cake, art, boardgames or a band on a Thursday it's the perfect place to stop for a bite or a beer. Shelter from the cold has never looked / tasted / sounded this good. Total addict, always will be.
  • Creaming myself up in this fry weather. Hand cream is a must! Healing Hands Lime Tree Extract and Grape Seed Oil is my ultimate favourite! The smell is unbelievable and its SPF 15. Divine!
  • Spending more time with my loved ones. Summer tends to drive me to the corners of the city to explore and be the true sun baby I am. Winter on the other hand makes me want to be close to people. And only people I admire and love. One of those little people (yes he's my little person) is my Pekingese Louis. I recently joined the Pekingese Rescue of South Africa. Reading a lot of the stories made me burst into tears. If you're looking for a little love to warm your lap and your heart this winter please go {here} and adopt a Peke like my Louis. I promise you will always be warm and you will be saving the life of one of the relations of the fluffy angel who daily warms my life. Blessed.
  • My sisters wedding. Yes my big sister is getting married! I cannot wait for next weekends family overload in beautiful Swellendam. A small wedding with only family and the closest of friends, celebratory perfection. Not to mention I really need a break.
  • A fireplace of course. If you can find one, if you have one or if you know a restaurant with one, don't tell anyone but visit her often. There is no warmth like the warmth of a natural fireplace, the smell of real burning logs and the glow of the smile it produces.
Hope this helps you keep the chill factor to a minimum! Hold her tight, keep him close.

Xoxo

PS. It's important to tell the people you love how much you love them while they can hear you.
