From death comes birth and beauty and blossoming tomorrow.

Life is so much easier when you just chill out. I'd rather do this than muddle my weekends with buzzing about. The weeks are so frantic and hectic, what is the point in the rush? Monday is so much more painful! This is what I learned;
  • People don't notice the things we do for them until we stop doing them.
  • Friday nights in, oh my golly! This has got to be my favourite thing. I know I speak of this a lot, but truly I love it. After a hard day, racing home to get into my pj's only to faff around with the dogs and in the kitchen, it is delightful to not have a care in the world only to take responsibility for myself.
  • “Rise and rise again until lambs become lions.”Robin Hood the Movie, 2010
  • The World of Cats and Dogs. Note; for us, it should be called "World of Dogs and Some Snakes and a Cowboy on a Horse, Skip Cats". What a treat! Silly but so fun. I don't think I stopped smiling. There was a ratio of huge smiles to normal smiles but an all over happy face slapped on Coco. Even when I was tired and hungry and resting on the boyfriends shoulder I was grinning as out of the corner of my eye there was a little furry mutt yanking on some woman's packet, sprawling a trail of kibble for the other hounds to follow… *sigh… Must Love Dogs… So in love with dogs!
  • "The best portion of your life will be the small nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you." - unknown. Been having a lot of these lately…
  • Sago, is a type of starch, extracted in the spongy centre, or pith, of various tropical palm stems. And in England (where I lived for five years) Sago pudding is a common dessert amongst Brits. So of course Woolworths is stocking it and my beady eye saw, my hand grabbed, my wallet paid for and I devoured its deliciousness. Its pure comfort food in winter and it is scrumptious, go get some now (warm it, don't trust their cold suggestion).
  • Exposing your dark side doesn't frighten me, hiding it does.
  • "I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is another way of saying, I will not forgive. Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note – torn in two, and burned up, so that it never can be shown against one." - Henry Ward Beecher. I am going to print this out and keep it close to me, forgiveness is actually about letting go, forgetting in order not to hold it against the other person… something important to remember and more importantly, practice.
  • Today, two years ago my dear friend was taken from us because he loved to ride his motorbike. It wasn't even one of those horror stories you hear about a late night or a drunken idiot. Simply a Saturday afternoon, in the sunlight, someone forgot to look out for my friend on his bike and skipped the robot. Think Bike! Sign up and support this initiative to help people be more aware. I miss you everyday my Nyks, it never gets easier.

On that note, life is short, so appreciate who you have and love them and tell them you love them! Who knows when they'll be taken from you. Have a shiny week buttons and pearls.

xoxo

Many ghost, many memories, miss you all.

Feeling fantastic with mother natures fresh fruit and veg, loving life!

I haven't been feeling myself lately. I have been working really hard, I haven't been getting much sleep, and even with my double dose of smoothie action a day, I still feel slightly unwell and hazy. So this weekend I did a detox. To be honest with you 'detox' is the wrong word. I did a cleanse

What is the difference? You ask. 'Detox' is when you try to neutralize or eliminate toxins from the body. After the Bioscan I had last week, I am definitely not toxic and with the hardly to no drinking and super healthy eating I do, I do not need to be neutralized, *wink! A cleanse is just a simple raw liquid 3 day body clean out.

I used to do this before and during exams to help clear my mind. You cut out meat, dairy, carbs and sugar and stick to raw fruit and vegetables and some vitamins and herbal teas and light exercise. It is amazing after the three days how much energy you have and how good you feel! I did a lot of thinking, soul searching and downright relaxing! I feel on top of the world! This is what I learned;
  • “Never trust your tongue when your heart is bitter.”Samuel J. Hurwitt
  • Sometimes, while I'm daydreaming in my head, I step back and look at my dreams and think to myself (above the daydream, thinking above the thinking I guess) Hells bells, my dreams are hu-mun-gus… and I blink repetitively wondering if they're too big and scary then I remember that quote, "If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough." and I am satisfied with the big boots I am trying to fill. 10 points Coco!
  • EateryJHB is still my favourite restaurant in JHB, by far! Even though there wasn't much I could eat I took my parents and my sister there to thank them for my little flat and it was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed the perfection of the service and the delicious and beautiful meals. Like I said, favourite!
  • “Simplicity is about doing both: subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful.” John Maeda
  • I want to make the rest of my life, the best of my life. I read this on Instagram this weekend and couldn't help but think that this is exactly how I feel.
  • “All the fireflies will keep you golden.”The Glory, by Kanene Pipkin
  • I forgot how much I love making fresh juice. 3x green apples, 1/2 a cucumber, 3x carrots, 2x beets and a thumb of ginger will not only give you a kick to send you buzzing into the afternoon but that ginger will cleanse not only your stomach but your sinuses too! Heaven! Tip; keep all of this in the fridge before juicing, or you'll have warm juice or have to add ice… my teeth no likey.
  • You may think a 3 day cleanse sounds easy, raw liquid stuff, by the third day, all you want is a plate of fries! that’s why 3 days is enough! I keep this in mind during that third day; "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D Roosevelt.

Heads up chickens, have a good week!

xoxo

Always and forever, my love.

Let it light your way, and the rest will follow.

What a great weekend. I am in such a pure and free place right now. I do not think anything could get me down. Good! Positive mountain is where Coco lives! This is what I learned;
  • I love how my taste changes with age. I remember two years ago in Cape Town I tried a truffle main and was almost ill. Now, I scout for truffle on the menu and Allora (bless her!) has an epic porcini (my favourite!) and truffle main, heaven! I will be frequenting Allora more often I believe.
  • “Their lips brushed like young wild flowers in the wind.”F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • When one asks for so little, what good are you, or benefit to my quest, if you do not put in that small about extra to add value to my life?
  • I am mildly obsessed with Woolworths pumpkin and sage soup. It is just divine and makes a grand difference to my butternut obsession. It can be a little sweet so I add feta to mine.
  • On that note, drinking soup out of a teacup is going to become a habit… its good fun and a good portion for someone who eats like a mouse.
  • Don't just see me with your eyes, take away, this mask of flesh and bone and see me for my soul, alone.
  • I just cannot get over how much I am lusting over going to the movies at the moment. Despicable Me 2 is a must see, although I just giggled the whole way through, seeing it in Prestige Lovers Seats is a must as well, *wink!
  • I want creamy coffee colour Converse. Don't argue, I just do.
  • “Wasn’t that the definition of home? Not where you are from, but where you are wanted.”Abraham Verghese, Cutting of the Stone.

 Have a buttery week sweet muffins! Hope the weekend comes quick!

Xoxo

PS. I like to be alone... but I would rather be alone with you.

I put this here not because I feel it, just to remind me that
I once did... and I no longer do. And it is hell of a pretty!

Strawberry kisses, can brighten any winters grey day to red.

I have to be honest I've been struggling to start this Learning's since yesterday. It might be the camel load of work I have on my back or the slow realization that I am beginning to loath the cold… either or I need a little jump in Coco's life. Both are shackling me to the inners of my cottage and driving me to dagger these Winter days. This is what I learned;

  • Spring, make haste! For Coco cannot dwell much longer in the refinement of her own home!
  • "There is always a lovely way to look at things, you know? Like the days we spend apart are as beautiful and essential as the spaces between the stars." - Christopher Poindexter
  • So we all know my smoothie obsession. Well this weekend I did the strawberry thingy. When you freeze fresh strawberries and then thaw them, even if they're not great or they're almost at their sell by date, they thaw really sweet and soft. This is amazing for a smoothie! Do it, try it, love it, sip it, yum it… mmm yes...
  • Moyo, still one of the better tourist, African attractions. Why did we not get our hands washed, blessing prayer and face painted… I would like to know? Meh.
  • I am a little obsessed with Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I bought it oversea's and was over the (midnight) moon when I found out there is a store in Sandton City which stocks all their divine New York products! Expensive, YES, worth it, definitely. They've been in business for 160 years, they've got to know something!
  • "I've loved you so long I can't remember what it was like before and I don't want to know what it will be like without you."
  • I have noticed, being someone who eats a lot of lunches out, that champagne seems to be the drink of choice these days. "Is it a trend?" I ask. Personally a cheap glass of bubbles would do nothing more to me than ensure an afternoon migraine… but over this weekend I noticed four separate occasions of this, three women, one man. Peculiar no?
  • Surprise parties, the best thing about them? Waiting for the birthday girl, standing in the dark, holding each other, sneaking a kiss… or fifty. ^_^
  • I can't wait for the first summer rain…
  • “Before I die, I want to be somebody’s favorite hiding place, the place they can put everything they know they need to survive, every secret, every solitude, every nervous prayer, and be absolutely certain I will keep it safe. I will keep it safe.” - Andrea Gibson

Have a beautiful week tiny flowers, it's almost time to blossom!

xoxo
