Hiding, from the wolf. Found {here}

Looking at a blank canvas and not knowing what to paint… looking at a blank page and not wanting to write. I'm sure Coco canThe weekend was cold. This is what I learned;

  • Being uncomfortable and alone in your own skin is a rather demonic feeling... nothing 4 smoothies in one day can't fix, BAM!
  • "Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become." - Steve Jobs
  • When you feel like you're getting flu, lemon water (half a lemon's juice, not slices the rind doesn't benefit your intestine and warm to hot water, not boiling the boiled water kills the nutrients) and a teaspoon of honey before breakfast and after dinner does wonders.
  • "As if you were on fire from within. The moon lives in the lining of your skin." - Pablo Neruda.
  • The Super Moon was amazing! Did you know that the Super Moon affects human emotion and action. It puts us on edge to say the least… no wonder…
  • I think I have finally found my favourite Nespresso. The Indriya from India. With an intensity of 10 (that’s the strongest you can go) its a power punch. But the aroma is to die for and the taste is creamy but sharp, it is perfection!
  • Winter Solstice was this weekend. Do you KNOW what hat means? We're over the winter hump and we can start looking forward to spring… well in like 6 weeks but still, its only going to get warmer from here!
  • I forgot how much I like dark nails. Morbid for some. But when the colour is slightly off black it goes with any outfit, unlike red which is my other favourite. Try OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark". Yes that’s its name. its a pretty aubergine colour… purple black… egg plant!
  • “Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.” - Marc Hack
That’s all for this week lovelies. Don't let the Super Moon drive you mad, although she may try…

Xoxo

PS. "I love you much (most beautiful darling) more than anyone on the earth and I like you better than anything in the sky. - E.E. Cummings

If only it was that easy. x

It's the little things that matter in this ocean of life.

When you work hard and play hard like I do, sometimes the body just says no. And a sneaky 'Friday night in' comes along and you leave work and thank your lucky stars! With Winter beating down the door, there really is not much on the social calendar. And with this long weekend, Fathers Day, and a lot of trailing hard, mental work weeks gnawing at my emotional hard drive, a weekend filled with nothing-much-to-do-about-something was a blessing in disguise. This is what I learned;
  • The best things in life are free. Full stop.
  • "I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best." - Oscar Wilde
  • I have become totally obsessed with my daily smoothies. On Friday I misplaced my blender. (Don't ask) and I literally nearly had a panic attack imagining not having my second smoothie of the day. It was pretty scary.
  • I've been dying to try Teta Mari Deli for ages! Finally we went there for a menu check and a Cappuccino. Cappuccino verdict- delicious! The menu was a little pricey though. We didn't eat but I would still like to try their burgers. I've heard amazing things. We didn't manage to go inside, I got stuck on their comfy outdoor seater in the sun and forgot, next time!
  • I miss summer, I miss brown skin, I miss wanting ice in my drink and then getting annoyed that it melts so quickly. I miss afternoon swims, I miss seeing flesh and pretty skin! I miss the light buzz of the fan but most of all I miss licking ice-cream off your lips.
  • I finally experienced Junipa's Red Velvet pancakes. So what? You ask. They're made the REAL way you are meant to make Red Velvet. Not with cheap, quick and easy red colouring, the way I make Red Velvet and the way the Texans do it (Red velvets birth place) with… wait for it... beetroot. And my oh my are they delicious! Nom! Definitely worth a try.
  • "Love says; 'I've seen the ugly parts of you, and I'm staying.'" - Matt Chandler
  • Worldwide it was Fathers Day on Sunday, my Daddy (yes I still call him that, get over yourself) is my hero, my inspiration. I am proud to be his daughter and thank whoever it is who organizes this stuff that they assigned him as my dad… I am such a lucky girl!
  • It was also my little Louis's third birthday. Happy Birthday my favourite son, your tiny licks and sweet pup cuddles are the best a mum could ask for! See how cute he was as a pup {here}.
  • I am loving DJ Kents "Spin my world around". Listen to it {here}, it will make you want to go dancing, apart from that fact, I do believe in the lyrics *wink.
  • Sometimes, staying in and staying home is the best choice. Sometimes sitting, doing sweet nothing and just enjoying each others presence, is all one really needs to feel loved. It is in these moments when you know if you feel totally comfortable, it is probably right.
  • One of the best feelings in the world is knowing your presence and absence both means something to someone.

Have a spectacular four day week my Filet mignons!

Xoxo

Sigh, a good weekend. Kisses, love, feathers, a smitten kitten!

The weekends are getting colder and colder here in chilly Joburg. It is encouraging Coco to stay indoors because hopping around in the frost is just too much for my ears to take. I am not a fan of cold toes either. It is just all too uncomfortable! Summer return please! This is what I learned;
  • A little Friday lunch time shopping session is always a good idea.
  • Cotton On must have the best vintage skinny tracksuits ever! Go now, be warm squirrels!
  • "The thing about chaos, is that while it disturbs us, it too, forces our hearts to roar in a way we secretly find magnificent." - Christopher Poindexter. I cannot stop thinking this quote was written for every Leo who ever lived, chaos seekers with hearts which roar! Like.
  • I love a mani / pedi session with a pretty friend. And Essies Miss Fancy Pants is a grey similar to the dark Pantone warm grey this designer knows and loves. A great warm winter hue for both fingers and toes!
  • Sitting in the sun all day on a Saturday when there is going to be a cold front on Sunday… it's good.
  • I love it when new friends join Pinterest. Last week I was blessed to not have one, but TWO of my favourite fashionista's and general all round taste guru's join, Miss Charlotte and my sweet sister Queen Steph. The excitement is beyond! Make Coco proud girls! I am also on Pinterest, have a look at my boards {here}.
  • I love the concept of personalized jewellery  Especially this personalized little stackable ring and heart set {here} Too cute! Great gift idea for any occasion.
  • “I fell in love with her courage, her sincerity, and her flaming self respect. And it’s these things I’d believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn’t all she should be. I love her and it is the beginning of everything.” - F Scott Fitzgerald
  • Feathers in your hair? Yes I am a fan! A friend of mine sells feathers on bands to tie around your head as a headband, too pretty! Next thing I need is a feather headdress, I always knew my childhood obsession with Pocahontas was more about her style than anything else… hmmm.
  • I often call Sunday my cheat day. I indulge in junk food and treats and yummies I try not to eat during the week. But being rather a healthy person, sometimes indulgence for me is a large piece of salmon, home cooked, with brown rice and quinoa, fresh lemon from the garden, in my pajama's in front of theTV with a Master Chef marathon… my how I've grown!

Cuddle your favorite thing to keep warm lovelies, keeping my boyfriend super close this week! Have a super week!

Xoxo

PS. When he kisses her, storms rise beneath her skin, for she is the sean, and he, is her moon.

... and for the rest of winter... and 2013... and my life...

Just love, hold hands, touch, sniff nice things.

When you sit back down at your desk on Monday morning and feel relief you know you've had a bit of an odd weekend. From Friday to Monday I really didn't imagine I'd have this feeling. I normally feel quite depressed to be back at work. I guess too much anticipation is a bad thing! Remind me never to do that again, *wink! This is what I learned;
  • Friday migraines are no joke, no fun and have quite a domino affect on the rest of the weekend, bother.
  • Buying a big leather couch is quite epic. My first big buy for my cottage is officially paid for in full and is on the delivery truck on its way to Coco's Cottage, hells bells I am excited… more so that I don't have to visit @home to go and sit on the sister couch to just remind myself that I have bought it. Yay!
  • "Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways." - Psalm 119:37
  • I am blessed to have beautiful friends. Spending time with them is both rare and precious to me.
  • 'Vegetables' a book by James Peterson made for a lovely Birthday gift. You know a gift is a good gift when you want to keep it for yourself.
  • "I'll uncross your arms and then I will become them. I'll hold you instead." - Tyler Knott Gregson.
  • Admire without jealously, praise without flattery, follow without imitating, and lead without manipulating.
  • I can timidly say I have tried all three Frozen Yoghurt places in Jozi. These are; Wakaberry, Smooch and on Sunday I finally completed the trio with Filo. I must say Smooch is my favourite. Wakaberry is nice but a little bland and on the boring flavour side and Filo is ridiculously sweet and too runny. Smooch, you get Coco's kisses, especially your peanut and salted caramel mix, divine!
  • "Don’t save things for a special occasion, everyday of your life is a special occasion!" - Thomas S Monson
  • I love my eyes when you look into them. I love my name when you say it. I love my heart when you touch it. I love my life when you are in it.
Keep warm and cozy loves, there's a cold front comin'!

xoxo

PS. If beauty were inches you'd go on for miles.

Always. Keep smiling, keep kissing.
