Weekend Learning's

Ernest Hemingway, The Garden of Eden.

I've had one or two good Valentines Day's. But most of them have been merdé, you can look that up, its romantic and French for 'poo'. Having Valentines at the office is always weird. We have to do strange work posts about stuff we like and we get roses or cupcakes and I have to do some social media stuff which takes away from my real work but forces me to watch all the crappy love flowing on Facebook etc… it puts a weird mood on my Friday, and weekend. I'm not saying its bad, just odd. I think it is more evident when you are out and about on V-day. You're surrounded by couples. Some new, some old. But each one has a mystery I would love to know. Each ones face tells a story that sometimes, the other person at the table can't read, but I can. Sometimes you see two people smiling at each other and when one looks away, the others smile is wiped clean, there isn't even a stain of happiness left there, not even a lingering light in their eyes. Valentines, can't we all just be honest? It's an interesting day. This is what I learned;

  • Valentines Day couples are the scariest couples. Brrr! Shivvers!
  • However… The best foreplay starts with "Good morning beautiful." giggle!
  • “Our Generation has had no Great war, no Great Depression. Our war is spiritual. Our depression is our lives.” - Chuck Palahniuk
  • I like tempura sushi so much that I actually search for it on the menu first before I look for anything else. If its vegetarian tempura Californian rolls (a rare delicious morsel) I will pay for your dinner.
  • “Continue to love. Continue to forgive. Continue to grow.” - Chelsea Ayers
  • I truly believe I am about to grow the best tomatoes simply because they are so cute and pretty those little tiny sprouts! But because I love them. Yes, I love those plants.
  • "People are prettiest when they talk about something they really love with passion in their eyes." - K.v.h. I am quite enchanted by people with drive, passion and a lust for their career. Yes I guess you could say it turns me on. Prrrr, ambition… wink!
  • "A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions." Show me your elastic band you beautiful thing!

This was a little bit of an odd learning's I know, a little fluffy, a lot of inspiration but there is just so much to do on the horizon, who can't help but feel inspired and lucky to be alive? One of my heroine's Stevie Nicks knows what I am blabbing on about;

“If you can find a passion at a young age, somewhere between fifteen and thirty, if you can find that passion, I can pretty much guarantee you that you can be sixty-five and still love that passion and still have a reason to dance out of bed and down the hall every morning.” - Stevie Nicks. Hope you dance all week long my little disco queens and kings!

All my love...

PS. You don't have to give her the whole entire world to make her happy, just make her happy by sincerely giving her "You".

MWAH!

Weekend Learning's

A weekend full of hearts!
Sometimes you have to work on the weekend. Sadly it makes the weekend go a lot faster. Although this Monday I feel relaxed and inspired by the time I spent this weekend.I learned;
  • I am officially packing away my clubbing days (for many good reasons).
  • I am changing... those who do not understand will sadly be left behind.
  • Shoe boxes make for neat and cost effective storage organisers.
  • My garden is growing so beautifully, I now have a whole lot of beans and beautiful butter lettuces! Eeeek!
  • Hyde Park’s Food, Wine, Design Show was so wonderful, I spent a lot of money with no regrets, on a lot of delicious things.
  • Dear Rae is my new favourite South African jewellery designer.
  • A much needed full bedroom clean-out is actually a lot of fun and makes you feel lighter.
  • Working weekends is not so bad if you’re productive.
  • I love it so much when I receive my cappuccino and there is a foam heart in it, win!
  • It is less than a month till Christmas, which means it is time to put up the tree.
  • Sharing little romantic words and thoughts with your far-away loved one is heart-fluttering stuff.

PS. I miss my Friday nights in…

Food, Wine, Design.

It was an arty affair... mustache anyone?
Johannesburg isn’t known for its design events. Her Mother City, Cape Town, normally gets the creative injection more frequently. But this joyous weekend Hyde Park hosted the Food, Wine, Design show.

Food… Wine… and Design… Coco was in heaven! There were so many inspiring and creative stalls. I was smiling from stall to stall. I finally got to meet the designer who is Dear Rae, and made a purchase {here}. I also met the (amazing!) women behind Reel Gardening and thanked them for my prized veggies. I discovered Malée makes the most seductive room spray I have ever smelled… I almost cried when she said they were 100% out of stock! I saw cushion’s which said “I ♥ Jozi” and laughed at the pink, moustache panties! He he! I tasted loads of olives, Chorizo, and bought yummy smoked sausage and creamy Camembert that would make the food gods sing! I had the creamiest cinnamon ice-cream and shared a chocolate and roasted nut pancake with a friend I call Lamb. Delicious.

I cannot wait for next year!

xoxo

PS. I love the creative people in my country. South Africans are truly blessed!

Weekends are few and far between. C'est la vie

Due to major workload and hectic deadlines I missed a whole week of blogging, *cringe!
I feel as though someone stole my hobby and held it too high above my head so when I jumped to grab it I could not reach. Mean. Anyway! So here are my (one day) weekend learning's!

Things this weekend taught me:

  • I love pretty flowers in brown paper wrapping.
  • I’m still in love with Truth Coffee, my favourtie is Dondes Chaos.
  • I also love drinking it out of thin, white, porcelain mugs with frothy milk on a Sunday morning.
  • Working overtime might be nice if you do not have a life but missing South African Heritage/ Braai Day is not cool.
  • This weekend I went to a fabulous New York themed Kitchen Tea and another friend got engaged, love is in the air.
  • My garden is growing! Seeing those little shoots with all their different personalities is the most rewarding feeling I have had in a long time.
  • You should roast a chicken at 190°C and 45 minutes for every kg... Easy! *tip, add par boiled potatoes and cut onions to the same baking tray 30 mins before you take it out... Nom...
PS. Rest that chickie for 10 mins out of the oven!

    The End of August

    Tuesday, 31 August 2010
    Cocobutton loooves original Winnie the Pooh, especially Piglet digging his garden. *think think think

    Ow. I do love August. It is the month of birthdays (pick me!), the last weeks of winter, and the beginning of Spring. Spring, yes the blossoms are already out, blooming and bee calling and scent giving.

    Another thing about spring, is it is time to start thinking about those herb/ veggie/ salad gardens. well, if I am correct it is the beginning of August that you are meant to begin but I, as usual, am a little behind...

    PS. watch this space... or cabbage patch
