Vodacom Durban July

Thursday, 29 July 2010

This weekend my girlfriends and I will venture to Durban to experience the Vodacom Durban July!
Here is a little info for you...

The Durban July Handicap is a South African Thoroughbred horse race held annually on the first Saturday of July since 1897 at Greyville Racecourse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Raced on turf, the Durban July Handicap is open to horses of all ages. It is South Africa's premier horse racing event and currently offers a purse of R2.5 million (app. US $360,000).

First held in July 1897 at a distance of 1 mile (approx 1600m), the distance was modified several times until 1970 when it was changed to its current 2200 meters (11 furlongs).

My dress is ready and away they go!

Tiny in Town

Tuesday, 13 July 2010

Going into town in Jozi is a treat for anyone. It still has this weird perception of danger (as once a long time ago it was) but in actual fact town has blossomed into buildings of culture and places that are unique and special in both quirk and charm. I love the high-rise buildings, the feeling of being tiny in town with the big city lights. My favourite place would have to be Arts on Main.

Arts on Main is situated in Fox Street (I know right!) in the heart of the Johannesburg concrete nest we call ‘town’. In amongst the wires of grey and metal streets is a pearly, grassy haven. In this city sanctuary you are greeted by a small courtyard of olive trees, stepping stones and garden furniture. This is surrounded by a library, a printing studio, galleries and even a sweet little reading room for the quieter at heart. It is so gorgeous, you can literally breathe easy the second you step inside.

This weekend I decided to pop in to see the ‘In Context’ exhibition. ‘In Context’ presents a diverse group of international and South African artists who share a rigorous commitment to the dynamics and tensions of place, in reference to the African continent and its varied and complex iterations, and to South Africa in particular. The works - wide-ranging, frequently provocative - engage with a number of pressing questions about space, context, and geography.

I highly recommend you go have a look and perhaps soak in the sun and stay for lunch!

PS. Explore every corner, you’ll open many doors!

I miss Cupcake

Monday, 5 July 2010

Being the busy individual that I am i recently, for the first time in a long time, had a weekend of relaxation and procrastination. Having a weekend of nothing much to do... a rather rare and special time, I spent it frolicking around, jabbering with friends and catching up on DVD's.

Something felt missing.

Today I explored the internet for websites, and typically I discovered what I was missing. I cannot remember the last time I baked! More specifically I cannot remember the last time I baked a cupcake.

Now frivolous as it may sound, baking something special and pretty is incredibly therapeutic. My favourite part about baking is making something with love and sharing it with your loved ones.

The missing thing was a cupcake!

I think baking will soon be back on the pages of Cocobutton....

PS. Cupcake, Happy cake, Patty cake! mmmm

Fashion Forward Friday

Friday, 2 July 2010
Someone recently informed that I had a problem with collecting shoes.
Well obviously my response was;
"So? What’s your point"

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? Wrong. Beauty is in the height of the stiletto.

For the clueless ones the name 'stiletto' heel (American English: spike heel) is a long, thin heel found on some boots and shoes. It is named after the stiletto dagger, the phrase being first recorded in the early 1930s.

Its inspiring to know that
a deadly dagger was the muse for my Jimmy Choo's skyscrapers. And not just any dagger, a compact stabbing dagger.

Hell has no wrath like a woman scorned? Well I think hell has no wrath like a woman in stiletto's.

PS. Yes I do really own a pair of Jimmy's and I have them in black and cream. love.

Beer for the Winners

Thursday, 1 July 2010
The Teams that went through got some special treatment from Moxy and were depicted as beer bottles.

I completely fell in love with these little patriotic pitchers and decided to share.

Enjoy!

PS. Gulp for glory!
