Coco is lost is Jozi... again... *yay! |
"Lent" …(in the Christian Church) is the period preceding Easter, which is devoted to fasting, abstinence, and penitence in commemoration of Christ's fasting in the wilderness. In the Western Church it runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, and so includes forty weekdays.
When trying to pick something to give up for Lent I couldn’t decide. The trivial chocolate and starch options are already a daily avoidance in my life. So picking something I felt that I should avoid should be something that would happen to be something I loved. A thing I could not really live without, something that brought me joy... Naturally... blogging. Forty days of no Coco, no Weekend Learning’s, no Fashion Fridays, no random pages about nothing other than my design obsession or constant lust for shoes. Yes I thought I could do it... And I did.
So when you check out Coco and see she’s been on a starvation diet since Ash Wednesday, it is not because I decided to abandon my hobbie, no no no, it is because I wanted to abstain, fast, from something which truly meant something to me... Chocolate... *PSH, so 1985.
So this is a weekend learning which, has forty week days of trying not to blog. Tricky! But I did it. This is what I learned.
- I LOVE BLOGGING.
- Most people give up generic alcohol, starch or sweets for lent.
- I love to jump on jumping castles.
- 12 Decades is an amazing ‘live-in-hotel’ in Jozi town with fantastic inspiration and views.
- Winter is coming.
- Sitting outside with a tiny cold will blow up into bronchitis.
- Having no electricity for 3 days makes for interesting and creative ways to make hot cups of tea... Braai tea is a winner! *thank goodness I know hot to start up a braai, win!
- I think I love Tequila... And just because I block my nose when I drink it doesn’t mean a thing...
- Ami Restaurant and Champagne Bar is a glamorous French Fusion Boutique/restaurant that expresses attention to detail, intimately. Watching old movies on their walls and sipping on free Tequila Tuesday is a wonderful time!
- I have a wonderful work environment where creativity and friendships are developed everyday. Not a lot of people are lucky enough to have what I have!
- As much as I indulge in my major love affair with Cape Town, there is still no place like home and the open arms that receive me.
- When someone tells you they want to shrink you and keep you in their pocket to carry around... is it normal to be a little freaked?
- I need a lot more winter boots... Hmmm.
PS. Lose yourself in order to find yourself. I am lost ;)
