Weekend Learning's

Strawberry kisses, can brighten any winters grey day to red.

I have to be honest I've been struggling to start this Learning's since yesterday. It might be the camel load of work I have on my back or the slow realization that I am beginning to loath the cold… either or I need a little jump in Coco's life. Both are shackling me to the inners of my cottage and driving me to dagger these Winter days. This is what I learned;

  • Spring, make haste! For Coco cannot dwell much longer in the refinement of her own home!
  • "There is always a lovely way to look at things, you know? Like the days we spend apart are as beautiful and essential as the spaces between the stars." - Christopher Poindexter
  • So we all know my smoothie obsession. Well this weekend I did the strawberry thingy. When you freeze fresh strawberries and then thaw them, even if they're not great or they're almost at their sell by date, they thaw really sweet and soft. This is amazing for a smoothie! Do it, try it, love it, sip it, yum it… mmm yes...
  • Moyo, still one of the better tourist, African attractions. Why did we not get our hands washed, blessing prayer and face painted… I would like to know? Meh.
  • I am a little obsessed with Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I bought it oversea's and was over the (midnight) moon when I found out there is a store in Sandton City which stocks all their divine New York products! Expensive, YES, worth it, definitely. They've been in business for 160 years, they've got to know something!
  • "I've loved you so long I can't remember what it was like before and I don't want to know what it will be like without you."
  • I have noticed, being someone who eats a lot of lunches out, that champagne seems to be the drink of choice these days. "Is it a trend?" I ask. Personally a cheap glass of bubbles would do nothing more to me than ensure an afternoon migraine… but over this weekend I noticed four separate occasions of this, three women, one man. Peculiar no?
  • Surprise parties, the best thing about them? Waiting for the birthday girl, standing in the dark, holding each other, sneaking a kiss… or fifty. ^_^
  • I can't wait for the first summer rain…
  • “Before I die, I want to be somebody’s favorite hiding place, the place they can put everything they know they need to survive, every secret, every solitude, every nervous prayer, and be absolutely certain I will keep it safe. I will keep it safe.” - Andrea Gibson

Have a beautiful week tiny flowers, it's almost time to blossom!

xoxo

Weekend Learning's

Tuesday, 18 June 2013
It's the little things that matter in this ocean of life.

When you work hard and play hard like I do, sometimes the body just says no. And a sneaky 'Friday night in' comes along and you leave work and thank your lucky stars! With Winter beating down the door, there really is not much on the social calendar. And with this long weekend, Fathers Day, and a lot of trailing hard, mental work weeks gnawing at my emotional hard drive, a weekend filled with nothing-much-to-do-about-something was a blessing in disguise. This is what I learned;
  • The best things in life are free. Full stop.
  • "I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best." - Oscar Wilde
  • I have become totally obsessed with my daily smoothies. On Friday I misplaced my blender. (Don't ask) and I literally nearly had a panic attack imagining not having my second smoothie of the day. It was pretty scary.
  • I've been dying to try Teta Mari Deli for ages! Finally we went there for a menu check and a Cappuccino. Cappuccino verdict- delicious! The menu was a little pricey though. We didn't eat but I would still like to try their burgers. I've heard amazing things. We didn't manage to go inside, I got stuck on their comfy outdoor seater in the sun and forgot, next time!
  • I miss summer, I miss brown skin, I miss wanting ice in my drink and then getting annoyed that it melts so quickly. I miss afternoon swims, I miss seeing flesh and pretty skin! I miss the light buzz of the fan but most of all I miss licking ice-cream off your lips.
  • I finally experienced Junipa's Red Velvet pancakes. So what? You ask. They're made the REAL way you are meant to make Red Velvet. Not with cheap, quick and easy red colouring, the way I make Red Velvet and the way the Texans do it (Red velvets birth place) with… wait for it... beetroot. And my oh my are they delicious! Nom! Definitely worth a try.
  • "Love says; 'I've seen the ugly parts of you, and I'm staying.'" - Matt Chandler
  • Worldwide it was Fathers Day on Sunday, my Daddy (yes I still call him that, get over yourself) is my hero, my inspiration. I am proud to be his daughter and thank whoever it is who organizes this stuff that they assigned him as my dad… I am such a lucky girl!
  • It was also my little Louis's third birthday. Happy Birthday my favourite son, your tiny licks and sweet pup cuddles are the best a mum could ask for! See how cute he was as a pup {here}.
  • I am loving DJ Kents "Spin my world around". Listen to it {here}, it will make you want to go dancing, apart from that fact, I do believe in the lyrics *wink.
  • Sometimes, staying in and staying home is the best choice. Sometimes sitting, doing sweet nothing and just enjoying each others presence, is all one really needs to feel loved. It is in these moments when you know if you feel totally comfortable, it is probably right.
  • One of the best feelings in the world is knowing your presence and absence both means something to someone.

Have a spectacular four day week my Filet mignons!

Xoxo

Weekend Learning's

me, myself, and us, it's love.

I've never known anything more ridiculous than that scene in Winnie the Pooh where he gets stuck half way in, half way out of Rabbits house. He naturally gets stuck because he's had too much honey, too much of a good thing. That’s not the part I find ridiculous though, that part is the part where Rabbit tries to deal with the 'situation' by painting Pooh's butt and adorning it with vases and flowers, a shelf some antlers (naturally) and I think perhaps a pipe... Obviously Rabbit is pleased with the solution. I always find after a big happy weekend of drinking and partying I feel like I look and feel like Poohs butt. I am adorned with a painted on smile and some other interesting things I have collected along the way, some new friends, a couple of masks, a can of appetizer in this case and of course I feel slightly half way in but half way out because some of the weekend is a bit of a blur. Best. This is what I learned;
  • "Love always wakes the dragon and suddenly, flames everywhere." - Richard Siken
  • I can proudly say I completed the 30 day Green Smoothie Challenge. Yup I did it, everyday for 30 days I drank over 750 mls of raw smoothie and it shows! The results speak for themselves, energy, smoother skin and a brighter smile are just a few of the pro's. You should give it a go, it is not as easy as it seems, trust me!
  • I have retained some amazing friends from Vega. It is amazing to think that after only two short years I thought all I obtained was a degree but lately I have come to the realization that it was the biggest stepping stone to the beginning of the rest of my life. Thank god I took the leap!
  • She was like the moon, part of her was always hidden.
  • The mystery of the Almond Butter thief at the Blubird Dischem has eluded me! Well… he / she is not a thief just a greedy aloof Almond Butter glutton! How very dare you take ALL the Almond Butter and leave poor little Coco with none… the mystery is A) What will you achieve with all the deliciousness and B) how do you afford it at R89 a pop. I dislike you a lot… and I dislike you even more that you might have hit the Sandton one too… anyone know where I can get me some ALMOND BUTTER!!!??
  • I went to a club on Saturday night… this quote; "Young girls need to learn that sexiness isn't about being naked." - Marc Jacobs
  • You know you're in love when you look back on your Sunday morning and remember only that you spent the morning lying in bed laughing at and with each other… perfection.
  • Nefelibata (n.) lit "cloud-walker"; one who lives in the clouds of their own imagination or dreams, or one who does not obey the conventions of society, literature, or art.
  • There is nothing more divine than lying in the sun with my beautiful boys, Louis and Basil (my handsome Pekingese's) counting my blessing, a perfect ending to the weekend.
Have an amazing week my laffy taffy's, I hear Sunday is going to be freezing!

Xoxo

PS. I am going to punch you in the mouth… with my own mouth… softly… because I like you… x
