Wishes, I need no more.
When you are a designer, there is this thing we call "silly season". It is when all the clients go MAD. It is when everyone suddenly realizes their year end is coming, being their financial year end, and they all suddenly say,

"Hey team, we haven't spent a lot of budget on marketing, lets do it!!"

And so they do. Not thinking that they all think the same thing, there is a flood of briefs. And with that flood of briefs comes a flood of stress and over worked designers and packed up productions and, lets not forget, printers go on leave the same time as builders so… the first of December is cut off for them so they tell everyone to 'go F a donkey' when we ask for quick jobs. This is just on my daily eleven hour work job.

On the home front we've had two deaths in the family, a car rear-ended me giving me and two of my fellow stressed designers whiplash (yay, more admin) AND my parents went away leaving me to man the house which, I must add, is NOT easy. And with all the stress my body is literally catching every possible thing it can to try and make me slow down, and a dear friend has found himself in a rather terrible situation which has left me feeling withered and bewildered… alas I still mentally believe strongly in the philosophy of "I'll sleep when I'm dead" so strongly that sleeping has also taken a back foot or rather, standing foot…

It is not all doom and gloom in Coco's life though. In fact… with all the rushing and tumbling I am still happier than I have ever been. We recently acquired the newest member of the family and second furry Pekingese, tiny pup Basil. (green eyes hence the name, I like Baz…) also the weather in this divine city (JOZI!!) I live in could not be more perfect. My mother is selling art like hot cakes see {here}, I have the best quality friends I could ever dream of. My family is stronger than ever and my heart if fuller than ever with all the love. And while I experience it all through thick and thin my hand is always held tight with caring by a love so perfect… words cannot suffice.

So that my loyal followers is why I *almost missed two Weekend Learning's. Forgive me please?

This is what I learned;

  • I am blessed.
  • "I'd rather regret the things that I have done than the things that I have not done." - Lucille Ball
  • Linkin Park were one of the most epic concerts I have ever been to. It is amazing the emotion attached to music. I think they helped me through a lot of silly teenage problems while I was young and did not have the support system I have today, thanks guys.
  • Bumble bees do a warm-up exercise before they take off… THIS is too cute… the mental image! Meeeep!
  • Sometimes I would honestly rather watch someone else watch TV than watch the show… yes he is that gorgeous, *wink!
  • Your skin is not paper, don't cut it. Your face is not a mask, don't cover it. Your size is not a book, don't judge it.
  • "Psithurism" (n.) the sound of the wind through the trees. I could lie on your chest and listen to this forever.
  • The other day I found a dandelion and wanted to make a wish… I realized everything I normally wished for I already had so I made a wish for someone else. I think I will be doing this a lot from now on.
  • There is nothing more precious than the love of a puppy and the simple joy of caring for the sweet little angel. Precious!
  • Wakaberry is mmmm yum yum yummmmmm deliciously icey and tasty mmmm. More please!
  • "Surround yourself ONLY with people who are going to lift you higher." - Oprah Winfrey
  • I've fallen hard, for a woman. Well for a woman's music. Lana Del Rey and her damn sultry lyrics about James Dean and hot sad summers… sigh how I love her, la-la la la laa laaa-la laaa la! Make me some Cherry Pie baby...
  • I've seen a lot of lovely things, but you are about the loveliest thing I have ever seen.
Ill try my best not to leave you all for too long again my Panamanian lilies, blossom brightly, speak soon.

Xoxo

PS.  Its you its you its all for you everything I do… Lana.

...finally.

Sing me a song and we might dance!
I had such a fantastic weekend. I wish I could replay! This is what I learned.
  • I have a cold. In the middle of summer! If this is my body trying to tell me to slow down its got another thing coming. Psh.
  • Warpaint is my band of choice at the moment... Between them and Bat for Lashes my ears are happy.
  • Staying in on a Friday night is bliss. Especially with great company and good wine.
  • Scrapbooking is really not my thing. I am much happier to design a page on my Mac and print it out!
  • Id rather have a bunch of Protea’s than a bunch of roses, *thank you.
  • Autunm is coming, there are leaves everywhere!
  • Puppy looooves to play and chase leaves.
  • Some people just don’t understand the meaning of the word ‘NO’.
  • I have made lovely friends at my office.
  • Radium Bar is the oldest bar is Jozi and it is fantastically real.
  • Fratelli’s in Greenside on a Sunday is divine, its all about sun, great company and live music!
  • Seeing old friends and making new ones makes for interesting conversation.
  • The future is exciting and uncertain and maybe a little unstable and I love that!
Xoxo

PS. When one door closes... twenty doors open... *preferred!

French inspired weekend... C'est la vie
Why do the weekends leave me so quickly! Even when I make a point to cherish every moment they go by in a flash. This is what I learned;
  • Louis (my Pekingese pup) went to La Pawtique and got ‘The Lion’ cut. He looks insanely handsome!
  • I love anything grape flavoured. Mmm!
  • Some people are just mean. And I do not deserve their abuse.
  • I still love French (English subtitle) films. I finally got my hands on La Vie en Rose. Stunning!
  • I also love Marion Cotillard and how she portrayed Edith Piaf. And how mad scary she looks in the movie and how gorgeous she in in real life, amazing.
  • I also, still love Edith and her haunting French music.
  • Staying in the entire weekend saves a lot of moola (money).
  • It is the end of the year and even when 'relaxing' on the weekend I still feel exhausted. *see next point.
  • If I work one more weekend it will kill my fragile little spirit.
  • I cannot wait for holidays so I can turn off my phone and ignore everyone. I need some space!
  • I need a straw hat... And the search begins.
Xoxo

PS. Thank you to La Pawtique, they really are the best (and only) salon I will ever take my little angel to.

Clearly, Christmas is already inspiring me!
Another weekend lost to time. I do not mind though, this weekend to come ill be in Cape Town, hooray! What I learned this weekend?
  • I’m a little embarrassed to say I’m loving the new Katy Perry… that fireworks song could be an inspirational anthem! Love it.
  • Snails can come in tins… eew!
  • BOS teas are YUM and their website is gorgeous!  See here.
  • I generally prefer if the temperature is above 30°C. I’m definitely a South African girl, Saturday was a glorious 33°C and I was in heaven.
  • I have too many shoes… I bought one of those shoe hanger things for my pumps… 3 in each section is what I had to resort to.
  • Sometimes you have to accept that people will never change.
  • Planning my girls Christmas party is one of those things ill never get sick of.
  • Booking for New Years holiday is done and paid for… happiness is!
  • I'm still in love with Mother Natures jewelled pomegranates, yumm! Eat with vanilla yogurt HEAVEN and very cost effective.
  • Louis (my pup) looks more like a lion as he gets older… I think a little more like an Ewok but I like Ewoks so that’s okay.
Xoxo

PS. Hope you’ve booked and paid for you your little December getaway!

  • A trend in my life is comfort. I think I will be staying put on this point for a while.
  • Juicers have moved up into my top three kitchen appliances! I am currently obsessed.
  • My Exclusives Books Loyalty Card can be swiped for anything, even nonbook purchases.
  • Staying in on a Friday night is even better when making bread and sipping on white wine.
  • Puppy graduation is so cute! Louis graduated with full colours from pup school! *Proud mummy!
  • Asia City is a really awesome place to practice your haggling skills. I got a 40% discount with a little persuasion.

    Pup Love

    Thursday, 19 August 2010

I introduce to you the newest addition to the Cocobutton family, my little Louis (show name: King Louis XIX).

Named after the champagne Louis Roederer and being the king of my heart, only a name fit for a king would suffice. Since there were 18 Louis's of France, being the 19th was an easy conclusion.

He’s a tricolor Pekingese and truly is the cutest love.

    Xoxo

PS. Happy pup = happy mum
