Weekend Learning's

Tuesday, 6 October 2015

The first weekend of October. Something changes in the air in October in London. Yes the weather, obs! But the menus at the markets have changed. There are now warm apple, pumpkin and cinnamon turnovers and hot spicy mulled wine. There are chimneys billowing white mist into the crisp blue sky. People are wearing burgundy and mustard coloured throws. There is a nip in the air but a warmth in the spirit, an English Autumn is vibrant and idllic! Also, while pottering around London, as one does, one noticed a lot of new things. Christmas decorations? Really? One cannot believe! This year has flown. And what a year it has been. This is what I learned;

  • “Like a wild flower; she spent her days, allowing herself to grow, not many knew of her struggle, but eventually all; knew of her light.” - Nikki Rowe
  • I love to read. Sometime back home I would stop reading for long periods of time. I find I struggle to get into books. Now with my trusty iPad and kindle app, I have successfully finished three books since I moved here. I know for big readers a book every two months is not impressive but I am on my fourth book since I moved here and enjoying getting lost in my books more and more. I have been reading such scary books that I sometimes get too scared to go out into the hall, let alone get out of the bed and have to watch an episode of Friends to try and relax before bed… funny! I know I am silly… stop laughing!
  • "Remember: the time you feel lonely is the time you most need to be by yourself. Life’s cruelest irony."Douglas Coupland, Shampoo Planet. I strongly believe in inner reflection.
  • There are so many health places in London. Honestly, healthy, vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, animal friendly, green, organic and biodegradable eat-in / eat-out restaurants are the new black… it seems. I have many favourites, I am yet to find a smoothie place where I truly love the menu. Most places do juicing but I think they water a lot of them down and we all know me and a smoothie – a love affair in a plastic sippie cup. I had a great one at Crussh this weekend – The Bliss Blend - Mango, pineapple, peach, bananas, coconut milk, bliss blend booster. (I took out the orange juice and yoghurt you will see on the menu, cannot have those on the The Migraine Diet). Was a little Saturday morning treat! Their branding is terrible though… it pains me. Just saying.
  • I finally finished Grey’s Anatomy Season 11. I cried like a blubbering little wet blanket, and I LOVED IT! Really was not the same watching it alone. I used to watch it with my little Sis, at least then we would cry together, and then laugh at each other. Quote I loved the most, Owen’s quote; "We're supposed to feel; we're supposed to love and hate and hurt and grieve and break and be destroyed and rebuild ourselves to be destroyed again. That's human; that's humanity. That's being alive," he told Amelia. "Don't avoid it. Don't extinguish it."
  • I think its a joke that peanut butter says “once opened consume within 3 months”. Three months… do people really have that much self control that they can keep a jar of peanut butter for more than three months? Wow. A jar of peanut butter lasts me about eight days, sometimes a little more but three months… never!
  • "I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close."Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets.

I hope you have an incredible Autumn week my fallen leaves. There will be no Weekend Learning’s next week, I am going on an adventure with my favourite sun baby!

Xoxo

Hiding, from the wolf. Found {here}

Looking at a blank canvas and not knowing what to paint… looking at a blank page and not wanting to write. I'm sure Coco canThe weekend was cold. This is what I learned;

  • Being uncomfortable and alone in your own skin is a rather demonic feeling... nothing 4 smoothies in one day can't fix, BAM!
  • "Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become." - Steve Jobs
  • When you feel like you're getting flu, lemon water (half a lemon's juice, not slices the rind doesn't benefit your intestine and warm to hot water, not boiling the boiled water kills the nutrients) and a teaspoon of honey before breakfast and after dinner does wonders.
  • "As if you were on fire from within. The moon lives in the lining of your skin." - Pablo Neruda.
  • The Super Moon was amazing! Did you know that the Super Moon affects human emotion and action. It puts us on edge to say the least… no wonder…
  • I think I have finally found my favourite Nespresso. The Indriya from India. With an intensity of 10 (that’s the strongest you can go) its a power punch. But the aroma is to die for and the taste is creamy but sharp, it is perfection!
  • Winter Solstice was this weekend. Do you KNOW what hat means? We're over the winter hump and we can start looking forward to spring… well in like 6 weeks but still, its only going to get warmer from here!
  • I forgot how much I like dark nails. Morbid for some. But when the colour is slightly off black it goes with any outfit, unlike red which is my other favourite. Try OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark". Yes that’s its name. its a pretty aubergine colour… purple black… egg plant!
  • “Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.” - Marc Hack
That’s all for this week lovelies. Don't let the Super Moon drive you mad, although she may try…

Xoxo

PS. "I love you much (most beautiful darling) more than anyone on the earth and I like you better than anything in the sky. - E.E. Cummings

If only it was that easy. x

Hugs, touch, cloud watching, it was a good weekend.
A long weekend well needed and deserved. No matter what I decide to write here, three days are always better than two, no matter what one decides to do... *poet. The fact that I also did totally the opposite of what I wanted to do, made it even more satisfying and created so much more room to grow. This is what I learned;
  • Sometimes its nice to just come home to my sister on a Friday night, sip on Champagne, watch her do her pretty make up and tell her about the butterflies I had the night before.
  • Two tattoo's in one month? Yes Coco might be obsessed but I needed this one. Infragilis et Tenera...
  • On that note, I feel sorry for people who don't have sisters, I am so blessed I have three!
  • The new Red Bull flavours in blueberry and lime are rather curious. The lime (silver can) is better than the blueberry (blue can) but the packaging is just super stunning!
  • A mani and a pedi always puts me in the best mood. A little pamper session at the beginning of the weekend always brightens up my mood!
  • "You have exactly one life in which to do everything you'll ever do. Act accordingly." Colin Wright.
  • I haven't winged a weekend in so long. When one 'wings a weekend' they don't make any plans. These often end up being the best, and it was.
  • Earth Dance, where total strangers come together to leave as best friends.
  • I like wearing bindi's on my face, flowers in my hair and feathers in my earrings.
  • "But I love your feet only because they walked upon the earth and upon the wind and upon the waters, until they found me." - Pablo Neruda
  • I finally got the chance to wear my Hunter Boots. They're great for festivals! Stomping around in the dust and the mud. They were the perfect pair of wellies for a night running around the bush.
  • I could lie on your lap and watch the clouds in the warm dapple shade forever.
  • Its funny how putting your tired feet in a pool can make you feel like a new person. It also makes two silly girls giggle… summer smiles, and so they begin!
  • Life is too short to dwell on the negative and mean people. I wash you out of my life oh dark and sinister clouds.
  • "You can plant the flag and assign the name, for you have discovered me." Tyler Knott Gregson

PS. "Why don't you tell me that "if the girl had been worth having, she'd have waited for you"? No, sir, the girl really worth having won't wait for anybody."  F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Weekend Learning's

Thursday, 19 July 2012

This was a very cold and confusing weekend. I spent it with a virus and a sore heart. Painful both inside and out.

I have to just apologize to my followers, please forgive the lateness of these learning's. I must admit with this virus I am in a sort of cloudy state of dumbfounded float. My brain is dry and withered. I have literally been living on 5 Special K flakes a day, a teaspoon of jelly, a sachet of rehydrate, another sachet of revolting self sustaining vitamins (so I don’t die I assume) and a quarter boiled potato for dinner if I can stomach it. It is amazing what the human body can survive on! I know from Monday to Wednesday I was sticking to water.   So you can imagine writing ‘stuffs’ is sort of like trying to pull smart thingies out of my marshmallow head. The best part of it is stomach viruses last for up to 3 weeks so I predict the next 3 Weekend Learning’s are going to be rather… peculiar and badly written… worse off than my normal waffle but with a little more syrup that usual… Gosh I miss starch… any which way from Sunday, this is what I learnt;
  • Friday nights in with Cougar Town back on TV is a serious plus! Too excited! Jelly Bean!
  • Gamophobia is the fear or marriage, relationships or commitment. I think in this day in age this is the most common fear out there. It is so sad actually.
  • Bumping into an old gay friends is lovely. Except when you’ve lost a lot of weight… and they have happened to put on a lot of weight. Why do gay men always try to cover their double chins with an unusual beard? And why do they always quote Kate Moss when they put on weight? “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?” Always creeps in… I beg to differ… have you never tasted Beef Wellington? Hell.
  • I read this little gem from my favourite Tyler Knott: "There in the stillness, in the perfect black of night, we came home again." - Daily Haiku on Love by Tyler... wow.
  • You know you're sick when you plan a party and only really invite yourself. Almost Birthday time! Need to seriously start planning… hope I can eat cake by then. Eish.
  • BFF: You laugh, I laugh. You cry, I cry. You fall, I laugh then I fall too because I was laughing so hard.
  • I like to watch the Sex and the City movie (one not two) a lot when I am down. It's a movie that shows that love is always stronger once forgiveness is achieved. I still have hope.
  • Deleting my Facebook account is the best thing I have ever done! No more pathetic whining from the peanut gallery. If you need to get hold of me, call my receptionist. Besides those who really want to talk to me, have already made the effort.
  • A peanut is not a nut by the way. It is a legume. #FunFact.
  • The Mercedes-Benz motto is “Das Beste oder Nichts” which means “the best or nothing." This my friends is why i drive one.
  • Only let go when it's no longer worth holding onto.
  • I read this in the window on one of my shop strolls. It shook me. “Of everything I have seen, it’s you I want to go on seeing: of everything I’ve touched, it’s your flesh I want to go on touching. I love your orange laughter. I am moved by the sight of you sleeping.” - Pablo Neruda
 Have a lovely rest of your week petals, sorry again these are so late. Forgive the sick Coco.

Xoxo

PS. Penance - voluntary self-punishment in order to atone for ones wrongdoing.

Maybe I'll get better if someone buy's me flowers... ^_^
